Readers' Club

I love sharing my story!  What I enjoy most about being an author is relating my stories with readers - and listening on every emotion my book evokes.  Attending and phoning book clubs to discuss my stories and answer questions are something I would love to do.

Readers' Discussion Points:

1. Do you think the U.S. immigration laws need to be reformed based on this book?

2.  Would your view of the family in the book be different if they hadn't been upstanding, productive members of society?

3.  As an American citizen, do you feel that you have certain advantages over people who are citizens of other countries?

4.  How does the treatment of the family by the U.S. government make you feel?  Do you feel that the family in the book was treated fairly by the U.S. immigration department?  Or did the family just have bad timing and were given bad advice/representation?  Do you think they deserved the treatment they received since they were breaking the law?

5.  Has the tight-knit family units disappeared in the U.S. with each passing generation?  How does this story compare with those of immigrants from the late 1800's/early 1900's?

6.  Do you think the outcome of the family might have been different had they followed the law when their visas expired?

7.  Do you think Ms. Furer would have persisted in her endeavors had she not had such strong religious faith and tight family bonds?

8.  Would having a nuclear family make it easier in today's life to raise your children and having "the American dream"?

(Thanks to my friend, Gwen D'Amico, for putting together the discussion points)
